One of Tiffany s favorite motifs was the peacock. The W18-8 Peacock-T shade is similar to page #138 & #139 as illustrated by Dr. Egon Neustadt in "The Lamps of Tiffany". Massed peacock feathers create the pattern flowing from aperture to lower edge. This shade has borders. Each design repeat has two distinctive peacock "eyes", one above and slightly to the side of the other. The swirl of feathers is executed in shades of purple, blue and mauve similar to the colors pictured in Plate #196 "The Lamps of Tiffany". The emerald green-centered eyes within this setting are thinly encircled by a border band of translucent gold colored glass. This shade offers very little, if any, background glass and a horizontal border at the lower edge of the shade.
